Certificates

The Swiss Arbitration Academy offers three types of Certificates: the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration, the SAA Arbitration Practitioner’s Certificate and the Certificate of Attendance for Individual Modules.

Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration

The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Arbitration is a joint postgraduate degree of the University of Lucerne and the University of Neuchâtel in cooperation with the Swiss Arbitration Academy. During the CAS program, participants attend the four SAA Modules, complete an examination and write a research paper on an arbitration topic. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive the ‘Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration’ (10 ECTS). Furthermore, selected participants may be invited to publish their research paper in the SAA Volumes, published by Stämpfli Verlag.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration is endorsed by seven international arbitration institutions, including ICC Switzerland and the Swiss Chamber’s Arbitration Institutions.

SAA Arbitration Practitioner’s Certificate

The Arbitration Practitioner’s Program (ArbP) is specifically designed for practitioners with previous experience in the field of arbitration. Participants attend the second, third and fourth Module, which encompass all the practice-oriented topics and the interactive pleading and drafting exercises. No additional assessments are required to complete the Arbitration Practitioner’s Program. This makes the course ideal for practitioners with limited time at their disposal who wish to learn from the experience of a large range of international arbitration experts and broaden their arbitration-related network.

Individual Modules

The SAA also offers participants the opportunity to attend one or multiple SAA Modules on an individual basis. This possibility is ideal for professionals or advanced students who are interested in a specific aspect of international arbitration, or for those who wish to develop a specific arbitration-related skillset (e.g. cross-examination or award drafting).

Certificate Upgrade

Participants have the possibility to upgrade to one of the more extensive Certificate programs at all times. Additional assessments may be required (e.g. attending one or multiple Modules, submitting the research paper and/or passing the SAA examination). To accommodate to the professional obligations of our participants, the upgrades can be completed over the course of multiple years. When a participant decides to upgrade, previously paid tuition payments will be deducted from the total tuition fee of the ArbP or CAS in Arbitration program.
